Frequently Asked Questions (by Marilyn Murphy):

What can you tell me about our ship? We’ll sail on the m/v Admiral, which is a deluxe vessel of the Katarina Line – a Croatia company. Admiral was the ship I sailed with on my June 2016 site inspection and I found her to be spotless and gleaming. She was launched in 2015 and Captain Ivo owns the vessel. She’s 43 meters long (that’s about 140 ft.) by 28 ft wide. Her hard-working crew did lots of double duty and were accommodating and eager to please. Check out the page on the Katarina Line website with details, deck plan, etc.

I sailed with WOW! on the Tere Moana cruise in 2015 – how does this ship compare? In a nutshell, I’d describe Admiral as a more intimate, modest vessel. She’s smaller (37 passenger capacity + crew of 9 vs. 88 passengers + crew of 67); there is less public space on Admiral (no separate lounge, for example); there is no swimming pool onboard (instead, we’ll cool off in the crystal-clear Adriatic during swim stops each day!); there are fewer dining options on Admiral, but we’ll be eating off ship and in the ports of call more often.

What is the itinerary like? If you were to drive from Dubrovnik to Split, it’s only 150 miles – so there’s not a lot of cruise time. We cruise only during daylight hours and dock in a different port each night. We visit lovely, historic and picturesque towns and islands, with walking tours conducted by local guides at each location. As always, our itinerary avoids the “big” ships as much as possible.

What about the staterooms? Air-conditioned staterooms are bright and well-appointed with interior or exterior door. Size is approximately 150 sq ft. Beds are double or two twins, with a reasonably spacious bathroom. Small closet, but ample under-bed storage. Lots of overhead and bedside light options and well-placed electrical outlets. Bed was really comfy, and linens were high quality. The standards are perfectly fine, but we’ll be adding enhancements for our WOWees. And if you must stay connected, wifi is free and reliable everywhere on the ship.

What about extending? I’d highly recommend it. We’ve developed a custom 7-night land itinerary that will visit regions in northern Croatia, the Istrian Peninsula and Slovenia – wonderful places in their own right.
