It’s official, Canada is reopening their border to fully vaccinated Americans as of August 9, 2021!

And we have the PERFECT way to celebrate…

Witnessing the phenomenal Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) from the Northwest Territories in Yellowknife, Canada! Nowhere else in the world are the Northern Lights as intense, vibrant, and spectacular as in the Northwest Territories (NWT) of Canada and we’ll take you right to the heart of it all!

By day, you’ll experience all things NWT, dogsledding, ice fishing, snowmobiling – and by night you’ll revel in the grand spectacle of the Northern Lights, replete with cozy winter clothes and heated seats.

What’s that you say? … you don’t OWN any heavy winter clothes? It’s alright, we’ve got you covered – literally! We’ll provide you with all the gear you’ll need to be comfy and cozy in below freezing temperatures for the duration of your trip!

So, what do you do during the day when we’re not waiting for the grandest light show ever? You’ll do all kinds of fun, outdoorsy, snowy weather kinds of activities: Snowmobiling? Check. Dogsledding? Check. Ice Fishing, learning about the indigenous culture, snowshoe hiking? Check, check, and check! And if you need a day lounging by the fire at the lodge or poking around quaint, adorable Yellowknife, we’ve got that, too.

The days will be as busy or relaxed as you’d like them to be, but our nights will be reserved for nature’s grand spectacle and we will have front row seats with all the creature comforts. You’ll view the Northern Lights from Aurora Village with VIP Teepee access (warm yourself by the wood log fireplace and have a cup of hot chocolate while waiting for the show!), and 360° swiveling heated seats for comfortable viewing.

Why Canada to view the Northern Lights?

• Yellowknife is right in the middle of the Auroral Oval – meaning there is the highest percentage of chance to see Aurora at this latitude on the planet;
• The land around the area is really flat – no mountains to trap the clouds;
• The cold weather makes for less moisture in the atmosphere, hence fewer clouds and more clear skies; and
• Yellowknife is also a small and isolated city, therefore not much light pollution.

And because there are no guarantees in nature, and also because she might decide to give us a slightly different show than the night before, we’ll make plans to be spectators a few nights in a row! We’ll even spend one evening “Aurora Chasing” (think tornado chasing, only safer – and more colorful!) to ensure the best viewing. And after the show, you’ll retire to the comfy Explorer Hotel for a restful sleep in Yellowknife’s #1 rated hotel.

Both Air Canada & West Jet offer service to Yellowknife via either Vancouver or Calgary. For our Los Angeles based departures, we are currently holding a block of seats in economy. For all other departure points, we would be happy to coordinate flights for you individually. Merely email Gabriel to assist you with your flight plans (for a small charge).
