You are an active traveler who loves to see things up-close and personal. You aren’t bothered by standing or walking for long periods of time (1-2 hours) and you can navigate uneven surfaces and easily climb into and out of different kinds of vehicles or vessels. You can handle the rigors of exploring the world in a hands-on way, even if that means getting up early or staying up late!

DAY ONE – Tuesday, April 8th – Prague – Arrival

Flights arrive throughout the day. You’ll be greeted at the airport baggage claim area, then transferred to our hotel for the next six nights –  Hotel Clement. Dinner will be on your own, however, we’ll schedule a no-host meet & greet at the hotel to welcome you to Prague!

DAY TWO – Wednesday, April 9th – Prague

Our first full day in Prague begins with a walking tour of Old Town, exploring its rich history and stunning architecture. Highlights include the Astronomical Clock, Old Town Square, and the beautiful churches and narrow streets that define Prague’s historic heart. Our guide will share fascinating stories and insights, bringing the city’s past to life.

Following the tour, it’s lunch together at a local restaurant, savoring authentic Czech cuisine. This is the perfect opportunity to indulge in hearty dishes like goulash or svíčková, accompanied by freshly baked bread and a pint of famous Czech beer.

After lunch, we’ll experience Prague from a unique perspective with a scenic river cruise along the Vltava River. Glide through the heart of the city,  enjoying panoramic views of iconic landmarks like the Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, and the picturesque waterfront. The leisurely pace allows us to take in the stunning architecture and vibrant atmosphere, offering a relaxing and memorable way to see the city’s highlights.

After the cruise you’ll have the opportunity to stroll through the vibrant Easter Market. Browse colorful crafts, sample festive treats, and soak in the lively atmosphere. Alternatively, you may prefer to relax at a café or take a peaceful walk along the river. Dinner is on your own, with plenty of excellent dining options within walking distance of the hotel, allowing you to explore Prague’s culinary scene at your own pace.

DAY THREE – Thursday, April 10th – Prague

Today in Prague promises to be filled with rich history and stunning sights, beginning with an extensive tour of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Start the adventure with a scenic tram ride up to Prague Castle, where you’ll marvel at the grandeur of this historic fortress and its breathtaking views over the city. The visit includes the impressive St. Vitus Cathedral and the charming Golden Lane. Next, head to the Strahov Monastery, where we’ll enjoy a private visit to the Strahov Library, home to a magnificent collection of ancient manuscripts and rare books.

After soaking in the beauty of the monastery, pause for a delightful lunch at a nearby restaurant, savoring traditional Czech dishes and refreshing beverages.

Our tour resumes with a walk through the Jewish Quarter, a poignant and fascinating part of Prague’s history. Visit the Old Jewish Cemetery, the Pinkas Synagogue, and the Jewish Museum, learning about the deep-rooted heritage and culture of Prague’s Jewish community. As we meander through the narrow streets, you’ll feel the weight of history and the resilience of the human spirit.

Conclude our afternoon in the bustling Old Town Square, where we’ll have a bit of time to explore on our own. Whether you choose to admire the Astronomical Clock, wander through charming alleys, or relax at a café, the vibrant atmosphere of Old Town is sure to captivate.

In the evening, we’ll regroup for a memorable welcome dinner at the famous Folklore Garden. Here, you’ll enjoy local entertainment, including traditional music and dance, while savoring a delicious meal. It’s the perfect way to end our day, celebrating the rich culture and warm hospitality of Prague.

DAY FOUR – Friday, April 11th – Prague – Český Krumlov

Today we head to picturesque Český Krumlov beginning with a scenic drive through the Czech countryside. Upon arrival, we embark on a walking tour of this enchanting medieval town, wandering through its narrow cobblestone streets and past colorful Renaissance buildings. Highlights include the majestic Český Krumlov Castle, with its panoramic views of the town and the Vltava River, and the charming town square.

For lunch, we’ll dine at a local restaurant, savoring traditional Czech dishes and enjoying the warm hospitality. After lunch, it’s free time to explore on your own. You might choose to visit the castle gardens, browse local shops, or relax by the river.

In the late afternoon return to Prague, arriving in time for to enjoy dinner on your own. With countless dining options within walking distance of the hotel, you can indulge in Prague’s culinary delights at your own pace.

DAY FIVE – Saturday, April 12th – Prague

Today is a full day at leisure to do as you wish. Sleep in or get up early and start your morning with a leisurely breakfast at the hotel or for a change, a local café, perhaps sampling traditional Czech pastries. Then, head to the vibrant Easter Market in Old Town Square, where you can browse colorful stalls filled with handmade crafts, intricate Easter eggs, and delicious local treats like trdelník.

Spend the afternoon exploring Prague at your own pace. A stroll across the iconic Charles Bridge, visit the stunning St. Vitus Cathedral within Prague Castle, or wander through the picturesque streets of the Lesser Town. The city’s many parks and gardens, such as the tranquil Wallenstein Garden, offer peaceful spots to relax and enjoy the spring weather.

As the day progresses, consider visiting one of Prague’s many museums or art galleries, like the National Gallery or the Museum of Decorative Arts. For a different perspective, you could take a leisurely boat cruise on the Vltava River, offering stunning views of the city’s skyline.

In the evening, we’ll regroup and enjoy our last dinner together at a special venue as we reminisce about our adventure and say “Ahoj” (Goodbye) to Prague and the Czech Republic.

DAY SIX – Sunday, April 13th – Prague – Karlovy Vary

The last full day in Czech Republic takes us to Karlovy Vary, beginning with a scenic drive from Prague, leading to this charming spa town renowned for its healing mineral springs and elegant architecture. Upon arrival, we start with a walking tour, meandering through the picturesque streets lined with colorful buildings and ornate colonnades. Highlights include the iconic Mill Colonnade, where you can sample the famous thermal waters, and the charming Market Colonnade, a beautiful wooden structure offering a glimpse into the town’s history.

For lunch, we’ll gather as a group at a local restaurant, enjoying traditional Czech cuisine and the town’s welcoming atmosphere. After lunch, you’ll have the option to explore further on your own. You can choose to relax and rejuvenate in one of Karlovy Vary’s renowned mineral pools, experiencing the therapeutic benefits of the thermal waters, take a guided tour of the Moser Glasswork Factory, where you’ll witness the artistry and craftsmanship behind the world-famous Bohemian crystal, or just meander the beautiful streets of this charming city.

In the late afternoon return to Prague, arriving in time for you to enjoy a later dinner on your own. With a wide array of dining options near the hotel, you can savor Prague’s culinary delights and reflect on the day’s memorable experiences.

DAY SEVEN – Monday, April 14th – Depart to the U.S. or on to Krakow, Poland

Today some of us will be saying farewell to the Czech Republic as we head to the airport for our return flights to the U.S. We’ll enjoy a final breakfast together before being transferred to the airport. For those of us heading on to Krakow, Poland (economy flight included), see the itinerary below “Accommodations”.

Monday, April 14th – Prague to Krakow

Today we say farewell to Prague and “vitam” (hello) to Krakow, Poland! After a short flight we’ll be transferred from the airport, to our home for the next four nights, the H12 Hotel. Check-in and relax for a bit before we meet back up for dinner at a local restaurant to celebrate our arrival in amazing Krakow!

Tuesday, April 15th – Krakow

The first full day in Krakow begins with a captivating walking tour of the Old Town, starting at the bustling Main Market Square. As you stroll through the square, you’ll be immersed in the vibrant atmosphere, surrounded by historic landmarks like the Gothic St. Mary’s Basilica and the Renaissance-era Cloth Hall. The tour continues along the Royal Route, taking us past the impressive Town Hall Tower and towards the ancient city gates. Along the way, we’ll stop to sample an Obwarzanek, a traditional Polish pretzel-like bread, from one of the many street vendors—a delicious treat that perfectly captures the local flavor.

As the tour winds its way through the charming cobblestone streets, we’ll visit the Jagiellonian University, one of the oldest universities in the world, and the Collegium Maius, its oldest building. The guide will share fascinating stories and insights into Krakow’s rich history and vibrant culture, bringing the city’s past to life. The tour concludes with a visit to Wawel Hill, where you’ll admire the stunning Wawel Castle and Cathedral, significant symbols of Poland’s national identity.

After the tour gather for lunch at a local restaurant, enjoying traditional Polish dishes such as pierogi, kielbasa, and hearty soups. This shared meal offers a wonderful opportunity to relax and reflect on the morning’s experiences while savoring the warm hospitality and rich flavors of Polish cuisine.

The afternoon continues with an insightful tour of the Jewish District and Podgórze using comfortable electric cars. This guided tour takes us through the historic Kazimierz district, where we’ll see the rich Jewish heritage reflected in the synagogues, cemeteries, and vibrant streets. We’ll learn about the area’s history, including its flourishing community before World War II and the poignant events of the Holocaust. Crossing the Vistula River, we’ll explore Podgórze, the site of the Krakow Ghetto during the war. Highlights include the Ghetto Heroes Square and the haunting remnants of the ghetto walls. This tour offers a deeper understanding of Krakow’s Jewish history and its lasting impact on the city.

The remainder of the afternoon is at your leisure, allowing you to explore Krakow at your own pace. Revisit the Main Market Square, further explore the vibrant Kazimierz district, or simply relax in one of the city’s many charming cafes. Wednesday, April 16th – Krakow – Auschwitz-Birkenau

Today it’s a poignant visit to Auschwitz, a site of immense historical significance. Departing from Krakow journey to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum, where our guided tour will provide a somber and educational experience. As we walk through the preserved barracks, gas chambers, and exhibits, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the atrocities that occurred here and the resilience of the human spirit. The visit is both moving and reflective, offering a powerful reminder of the past.

Following the tour, we’ll gather for lunch together at a nearby restaurant. This meal provides a chance to share our thoughts and emotions in a supportive setting, while enjoying traditional Polish dishes. It’s a time for quiet conversation and reflection on the morning’s experiences, offering both comfort and connection.

After lunch, we’ll return to Krakow, where the remainder of the afternoon and evening is at your leisure. Relax, explore the city’s historic sites, or take a quiet walk along the Vistula River to process the day’s visit. Dinner will be on your own, with numerous excellent restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Whether you prefer a cozy local bistro or a fine dining experience, you’ll find plenty of options to suit your taste, allowing you to unwind and reflect on the day’s profound experiences.

Thursday, April 17th – Krakow – Wieliczka Salt Mine

Our final full day in Poland begins with an unforgettable tour of the Wieliczka Salt Mine, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Departing from Krakow, arrive at the salt mine, where an expert guide will lead us through the intricate underground labyrinth. As we descend into the depths marvel at the stunning chambers, tunnels, and chapels carved entirely out of salt. Highlights include the breathtaking Chapel of St. Kinga, with its magnificent salt crystal chandeliers and detailed carvings, and the unique underground lakes. This fascinating tour offers a glimpse into the history and artistry of this remarkable site, which has been operational for over 700 years.

After the tour, gather for lunch at the local restaurant Salta Miodowa, known for its warm atmosphere and delicious traditional Polish cuisine. Here, we’ll enjoy a variety of local dishes, such as pierogi, bigos (hunter’s stew), and freshly baked bread. The restaurant’s charming setting and friendly service provide the perfect backdrop for relaxing and savoring the flavors of the region, making it a delightful break in our day.

The afternoon is at your leisure, allowing you to explore more of Krakow. Revisit favorite spots in the Old Town, do some last-minute shopping, or simply unwind at a local café. This free time offers the flexibility to tailor the afternoon to your interests and make the most of your final day in Poland.

In the evening, we’ll reconvene for our final farewell dinner at Skansen Smaków, a traditional Polish restaurant known for its authentic cuisine and lively folk shows. As we enjoy a sumptuous meal featuring regional specialties, we’ll be entertained by local performers showcasing traditional music and dances. This festive atmosphere provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the rich culture of Poland and reflect on the memorable experiences we’ve shared. As the evening draws to a close, we’ll bid farewell to Poland and to each other, cherishing the friendships and memories that have made this journey so special.

Friday, April 18th – Depart for the U.S.

Today bid a fond farewell to the beautiful country of Poland.
